Engineered Solutions for Road Construction

Construction Methodology

Soil & Dust Solutions Technology Driven

Combining Technology with traditional road construction methodology to meet the challenges facing development today --- OUR SOLUTION  = SUSTAINABLE ROADS

Road Design and Engineering

The use of a soil stabilizer for sub-base stabilization, wearing course and sealing is not a substitute for standard road design. Construction must be done in accordance with our road stabilization specifications and construction methodology.

  • Soil & materials testing
  • Construction Methodology
  • Topical Surface Seal
  • Final Field Density Testing

Soil & Materials Testing

The following Soil Laboratory tests matrix are required using different quantities by mass of in-situ-soil / soil stabilizer/ and other components being considered, which incorporate the following TMH Testing Methods:

  • Indicators = Grading and Atterberg limits (TMH1 Method A1, A2, A3 and A5)
  • CBR = California Bearing Ratio (TMH1 Method A8)
  • UCS = Unconfined Compression Strength (TMH1 Method A14)
  • ITS = Indirect Tensile Strength (TMH1 Method A16T)
  • W/D brushing = Wet-dry brushing test (TMH1 Method A19)

Construction Methodology

  • Surface is milled to 150mm
  • Diluted mixture of product and water is added bringing material up to OMC
  • Surface is shaped and compacted to 98% Modified AASHTO density

Cut Final Levels and Finish with PT Roller

Apply Diluted Mixture as Topical Surface Seal

Conduct Final Field Density Testing & Compare to initial Laboratory Results

Technical and Practical Aspects of Design, Materials Testing and Construction Methodology

USING OUR SOIL STABILIZATION METHOD WILL SAVE YOU MONEY
WHERE YOU NEED IT MOST
THE COST SAVINGS WILL BE CONTINUAL OVER THE LIFE SPAN OF THE ROAD
WE DO NOT OFFER- QUICK FIX – OR SHORT CUTS
WE PROVIDE ENGINEERED SOLUTIONS™ WHICH ARE COST
EFFECTIVE AND SUSTAINABLE

For independent accredited laboratory test results as well as on-site testing and construction reports by Roadlab, Africon, Geostrada, and Tranacon, see Mine Haul Road Section

Maintenance Requirements

The sub base constructed will be permanent, while the maintenance requirement for the wearing course surface is only 30-50% of the original application rate of the topical surface seal after a 12-24 month period.  The amount required is dependent upon the volume and type of traffic and the overall care taken to keep the wearing course free from fugitive material.
